BathHouse Vol 6.1 goes live today, 5/23/08, with great experimental work from John M. Bennett, Lily Robert-Foley, Francis Raven, Ander Monson, Elizabeth-Jane Burnett, Andy Frazee, and William Walsh. Succinct but tantalizing, the fresh content promises to inspire readers to create in new ways like lemon pledge on a Michigan winter’s night…

Our Spring/Summer issue, Vol 6.2, will follow in July! We are of course, still accepting submissions…

Hex Presse Presents: Specimen Jar Poetry Puzzles

May 21, 2008

Filed under: Book Arts, Inspiration — admin @ 7:09 am

The wonderful women of Hex Presse have created Poetry Jars wherein the letters of six words from a single poem are gathered and stored in glass specimen jars which allow the player/puzzler to experience the letters synesthetically. Because the letters are impressed on beads, one can “feel” the letters, thus allowing for the experience of “feeling” and “seeing” as simultaneous acts of “reading”. Hex Presse is interested in presenting text as multi-dimensional, plastic, playful, concrete, mutable, improvised, cooperative, collaborative, and interactive. Stefanie Posavek: Rhythm Textures

May 20, 2008

Filed under: Book Arts, Inspiration — admin @ 1:44 pm

I recently ran across Posavek’s richly conceptual project on NOTCOT.org. Posavek’s Rhythm Textures essentially use data painstakingly derived from studying sentence length, prosody, and themes in Jack Kerouac’s On the Road to produce gorgeous visual representations of the patterns in his work. Visit NOTCOT for more images of the project and other tantalizing eye candy. highlighted_book_1-thumb-600x450.jpgsentence-length-poster-thumb-600x848.jpg
