Moving into Writing. Writing into Sound.
In this three-hour workshop, Julie Carr will lead the group through a series of movement-based explorations and improvisations from which we will generate original written material. Christine Hume will then direct us in developing this material into sound driven texts that perform the ways that sound allows language to connect to the body. We welcome dancers, writers, and performers of all kinds into this workshop, though no prior experience is necessary. Please come in comfortable clothes, ready to move, to listen, and to write.

Time: 8:00pm - 10:00pm

In this radio show, host Joe Sacksteder will play tour guide as sound poetry springs fully-armed from the head of classical music. The distinction between the two is often blurry - this show will wallow in that blurriness. Tune in and you’ll hear works by Stockhausen, Webern, Schoenberg, Ives, Rachmaninoff, Mahler, Steve Reich, Ligeti, Schoenberg, Stravinsky, Berio, and Babbitt. Stay for the whole thing and you’ll be rewarded with some treats by The Billy Nayer Show and some sidesplitting mashups of Werner Herzog.
